Kunsthalle Bern is pleased to present a new solo exhibition by Daniela Ortiz.
Daniela Ortiz (*1986) was born in Peru and lives in Cuzco. In her work she critically examines nationality, racialization, class, gender, and the structures of colonial, patriarchal, and capitalist power. Past projects have addressed such issues as Europe’s migratory control systems and their colonial roots, the violence inflicted on racialized and migrant communities, and the exploitative dynamics between the Peruvian upper class and domestic workers. Alongside her artistic practice, Ortiz lectures, leads workshops, and publishes on anti-racism and decolonial struggles. Her work has been widely exhibited internationally at institutions such as Palais de Tokyo, Ludwig Museum, EMST Athens, and Kunstverein Wiesbaden, with solo shows across Europe and Latin America, and is held in major collections including Museo Reina Sofía, MACBA Barcelona, Museo de Arte de Lima, and CNAP Paris.
